Energy Security Initiative Event
Date: 14/11/06
Summary: In recent years energy has come to dominate the news, political debate and business planning in radically different ways, not seen since the 1970s. Today's challenges extend into the combined realms of energy and security including network infrastructure security, emissions management, and just-in-time supply chains. With increasing trends towards the globalised economy, the notion of national and local security of supply seem increasingly dated. Solutions need to extend beyond the smooth operation of liberalised markets to include strategies for the future that enhance the diversity, efficiency and reliability of energy systems.

The preferred route to hydrogen today is steam reforming of methane but, for the longer term, the supply-side debate is just beginning.
